Jordon - Meet the Royal and Bedouin Arabians

Introduction
This tour is a rare and unique opportunity to visit the Jordanian Royal Family Stud in Amman. The Royal family has a passion for horses and successfully breeds international champions. Combined with this we will meet the Bedouin Arabian horses in their more native surroundings around Petra – the ancient Nabatean Rose Red City.

The Itinerary

Day 1 Saturday 10th November
Arrive Amman. Overnight hotel. B&B

Day 2 Sunday 11th November
After breakfast we transfer to the Royal Stables for a guided tour. We will see the private royal family horses and the Saddle Museum and be given an insight into the breeding programmes. We will take a short city tour of Amman before returning to our hotel for a freshen up and an evening meal in a traditional Jordanian restaurant in Kan Zaman, a 200 year old village located in the southern part of Amman 20 minutes drive from the hotel.  The village was used as Ottoman Stables for horses during the Turkish time and latterly is a popular place for restaurants. Overnight hotel Amman.

Day 3 Monday 12th November
Today we visit some private stables near Amman before transferring to Mount  Nebo for a tour of the site of the Tomb of Moses.  This is where Moses viewed the promised Land in Canaan, where he died and was buried in a nearby valley.  Here there are ruins of 4th and 6th C churches whose floors are still covered with beautiful mosaic.  We then transfer to Madaba. This town has a long history , being first mentioned in the Bible and in the Mesha Stele when it was a Moabite town. We visit the orthodox  Christian church  of  St. George where there is a  mosaic map of  Jerusalem, Palestine, Jordan, Israel & Egypt. We have lunch in Harat Judoudana Restaurant  before transferring to Petra. Check-in hotel , dinner and overnight.

Day 4 Tuesday 13th November
We start today by visiting the Brooke Hospital for Animals clinic , followed by a full day trip to explore the Rose-Red city, Petra, including the Siq, the Treasury, city centre, the Royal tomb, the theatre,  the High Place of Sacrifice, Wadi Farasah and the Roman Soldier Tombs.  This will be something never to forget and will whet your appetite to see more. Overnight hotel.

Day 5 Wednesday 14th November
Today we have a Dead Sea experience! We transfer to the lowest point on earth and have a mud bath and “swim” in the Dead Sea. You will have a chance to relax and enjoy the facilities of the spa before returning to Petra in the evening. Overnight hotel. HB

Day 6 Thursday 15th November
After breakfast we start our jeep tour from Petra to Wadi Rum and explore hidden  canyons among cliffs of red sandstone mountains. We will visit the majestic colourful canyon, have spectacular views of the Araba valley and the Petra mountains, explore Nabatean water instillation and ruins and beautiful valleys of sandstone.

We will stop at  Bedouin camps and share tea with them. In the evening we will feast on a Pasha Dinner  B-B-Q style and stay in decorated Bedouin tents, with carpets and mattresses for seating. This will be a fantastic night sleeping in the desert.  Overnight camping Wadi Rum or return to Petra.

NB. Optional camel ride.

Day 7 Friday 16th November
Today we return to Petra and have a wonderful opportunity to take a full day’s ride around the Petra Mountains and see the sunset over the magnificent landscape. For those who do not wish to ride it is possible to take a jeep tour or just relax at the hotel. FB

Day 8 Saturday 17th November
Depending on return flight times we transfer to Amman to the airport for departure.

NB Day 5 maybe subject to change due to Brooke Hospital for Animals commitments.
